We offer free services in exchange for a share in the incremental production.
For example:
Infill well design. Supposed that you plan to drill 10 infill wells and
you expect the production rate to be 50 BOPD average.
We can provide analysis and select 10 well locations. If the average rate becomes
80 BOPD, the incremental production is 30 BOPD. We will be paid a percentage of the 30 BOPD.
Exploration well design. We can help you design the exploration well,
and we will be paid when the exploration well is a success.
By-passed oil/gas. We can help you locate by-passed oil or gas in mature fields,
and we will be paid a percentage of the incremental production.
Drilling. We can drill the well(s) for you, and get paid a percentage of the production
if the well(s) would produce.
A. Integrated Reservoir Studies
With our
experienced professionals and our own software, we provide the following
services at a higher quality, in a shorter period of time, and with affordable
cost.
Seismic Velocity Calibration
GridSTAT has special functions for seismic time depth conversion. While comparing synthetic with seismic, GridSTAT automatically scans time shifts, and selects the best time shift, of the time depth curve at each depth interval for each well. It also optimizes the wavelet that gives the best match between the synthetic and the seismic.
See
Technology
for more detail.
Seismic Inversion
After time calibration, we use GridSTAT to invert seismic amplitude to impedance, porosity, and/or lithology. Both seismic information and well logs are honored.
The seismic inversion results can be used (1) to predict well ahead of drilling bit, (2) to predict a new well, and (3) to predict a unlogged well.
See
Technology
for more detail.
Core Analysis and Special Core Analysis
Core data are the only directly measured reservoir petrophysical data, thus are often considered as hard data. Core analysis data are often used as the basic data for reservoir characterization and special core analysis data are critical for modeling reservoir fluid flow and distribution in reservoir rocks.
We have the expertise to design, perform, and supervise core analysis programs (porosity, permeability, matrix density, surface area, saturation, thin section analysis, x-ray diffraction lithological analysis, and SEM pore structure/lithological studies) and special core analysis programs (capillary pressure, relative permeability, and electrical properties, and fluid-rock interactions).
Data Quality Control
GridSTAT is a powerful tool for data quality control. Using GridSTAT and our expertise in geology, geophysics, petrophysics, and reservoir and well engineering, we can find and correct problematic data quickly.
Data Normalization and Correlation
GridSTAT has many data normalization and correlation functions. With our expertise and the software, we can help you to normalize and correlate your data to make physical sense.
Well Log Analysis
Conventional log analysis can be easily performed using GridSTAT. A typical log analysis performed by GridSTAT includes the following: (1) log data QC and normalization, (2) calculation of shale (or clay) volume, (3) calculation of porosity, (4) calculation of effective porosity, (5) calculation of saturation, (6) calibration of saturation calculated form logs with that from core analysis (e.g., from capillary pressure measurements), (7) determination of free water level and the height of transition zone, and (8) calculation of reserves.
Horizon Marker Modification/Generation
Correct horizon markers are essential for building a correct reservoir model. Using GridSTAT, we can quality control existing markers or generate new markers for you.
Comprehensive Cross Section Preparation
Cross section is commonly used to visualize the reservoir. We produce cross sections to your specifications.
Facies Analysis and Modeling
Facies analysis based on core, geology, and seismic interpretation can be modeled in 3D by calibrating with well logs and integrating with seismic data.
3D Geological Modeling
Based on geostatistics, we use GridSTAT to build 3D reservoir models for visualization, flow unit identification, reserve calculation, or input into reservoir simulators.
Model Upscaling
Reservoir geological models generated from reservoir characterization studies need to be upscaled before imported by a reservoir simulator.
Production Data Calibration and Remaining Hydrocarbon Analysis
To build an accurate reservoir geological model, integration is the key. We calibrate data from GridSTAT (such as k*h and Shc*phi*h) with production/well-test data, and then perform remaining hydrocarbon analysis.
Flow Unit Identification and Analysis
Different rock types will result in different reservoir fluid flow and distribution behaviors. However, characterization of rock types has always been a challenge. Recently, the concepts of flow unit and flow zone indicator have been proposed for characterizing rock/pore structure types. We have applied the flow unit theory to one of the Argentina reservoirs and the drilling and well testing results have confirmed that our flow unit analysis are correct.
Reservoir Simulation
We perform reservoir simulations with geostatistically built reservoir models. Our reservoir simulation specialists have experience writing simulators as well as carrying out reservoir simulation projects.
Software Customization
The main responsibilities of our software engineers are to update GridSTAT, but they are also provide software customization services (such as I/O interfaces for different applications) to our clients.
Training
Using PC based GridSTAT, we are also providing technical training. You are invited to bring your own data: well logs from 3 to 300 wells, with or without markers, with well locations. We will provide example data also. For more information, please refer to the Training section.
For large quantities, we digitize well logs at lower cost with better quality control.
Log Analysis
Special log analysis with old logs, problem wells, and low resistivity pay, as well as conventional log analysis.
Seismic Processing
Special processing of pre-stack as well as post-stack seismic data. Our capabilities include (1) conventional and special processing of 2D and 3D data, (2) depth imaging, (3) 3D migration of 2D data, (4) noise attenuation, (5) resolution enhancement, and (6) amplitude preservation.

Other field services.
ACE Information Services
We provide design, implementation, and integration services in the area of data management,
equipment management,
B2B,
or B2C. Our key to success is based on our experiences in providing advanced yet practical software
and in carrying out many data analysis and integrated projects.
User oriented. We emphasize that users should be part of the design and quality control of the implementation.
Continuous improvement and modification will be required based on user feed back.
Localized. We believe that people working in the local organization requesting the service should participate
as much as possible in the design, implementation, and upgrading.
They are most familiar with the application environment and usually have vast interest in the success of the project.
Cost may also be lower if local experts are properly integrated into the process.
Distributed centralization. Network and internet are becoming faster and faster, but it is never fast enough.
We believe that a design is a compromise between convenience for the users (fast response and easy access)
and ease of maintenance (centralized database etc.). And we believe that the users are always right.
